Angel’s Bone: Canadian Opera Premiere

This 2017 Pulitzer Prize winning opera, Angel’s Bone, by Chinese-American Composer Du Yun and Canadian Librettist Royce Vavrek, is a newly-imagined and all-Canadian production debuting at IndieFest 2022. Addressing the trafficking and exploitation of youth in local communities, the story paints a picture of the realities of human trafficking, it also depicts the resilience of survivors and the journey of reclaiming one’s power. With this national collaboration between re:Naissance Opera, Sound the Alarm Music/Theatre, Loose Tea, Arraymusic, and Turning Point Ensemble, this production champions social change more readily through bold and creatively charged storytelling.
